Richard Godsland is a Chartered Global Management Accountant with more than 15 years of experience across financial leadership, group reporting, and strategic finance, always with an eye on the bigger picture.
Currently Chief Financial Officer at Procurement for Housing, Richard is responsible for the financial stewardship of the group, ensuring the organisation has the financial rigour, insight, and controls to support its members and deliver on its long-term purpose. He joined the group in 2021 as Finance Director before stepping up to CFO in 2024, bringing with him a track record of building robust finance functions in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments.
Before joining the group, Richard spent over five years as Group Financial Controller at Placefirst, a private equity backed residential property developer, where he had full financial oversight of a group of sixteen entities. In that role he managed monthly board reporting, PE fund liaison, project investment appraisals, statutory accounts, company debt management, and complex multi-million pound project reconciliations, as well as serving as Company Secretary across the group. It was a role that demanded both technical precision and genuine commercial judgement, and Richard thrived in it.
Earlier in his career, Richard worked as a Senior Accountant at Smith and Brown Accountants, supporting SME growth through forecasting, strategy planning, and business analysis, and as a Management Accountant at Timpson Limited, where he developed a strong foundation in management accounts, budgeting, and financial controls.
