When Grand Union Housing Group (GUHG) was looking to renew the contract to maintain alarm and door entry systems at their retirement housing they turned to public sector procurement specialist PfH.
Grand Union, which incorporates Aragon Housing Association, Rockingham Forest Housing Association and South Northants Homes, owns and manages around 12,000 properties in Bedford, Buckinghamshire, Northants and surrounding areas.
Previously, two associations in the group had separate contracts to maintain and service their hard wired alarm and door entry systems. One contract was direct with Tunstall, the other (also with Tunstall) was set up using a framework provided by an alternative provider. Each offered a different level of services.
Both contracts were due to end at the same time, creating an opportunity for Grand Union to create a single contract for the whole group, achieving economies of scale and reducing the administrative burden on staff.
Internal discussions took place to determine whether to follow an OJEU compliant process, extend the framework with the existing provider or look for an alternative framework provider.
